If you have signed up for the Infinite Campus Parent Portal – you can access your child’s updated password and email address.
**IMPORTANT!** Athletic registration must be completed online. You must use your student's google email account in order to register.
All Student Athletes must have a valid sports physical on file with the Activities Office to practice.
Transfer students and foreign exchange students should contact the athletic director once enrolled at East High School

CAPTAIN'S PRACTICE
How To Set-up Captains Practice:
Step 1 – Check the school calendar
Step 2 – Complete a “application for use of a school facility”
Note: Must be complete with dates, hours, and supervisor signature and contact information.
Step 3 – Contact your school's community education director and hand in your “application for use of a school facility”

Step 4 – Check the school calendar to confirm your dates (Activities Office will finalize requests – not all events on the calendar)
Step 5 – Supervisor must be present and all points below must be followed.
Captains practices using school facilities can only take place during the 10 school days prior to the season without incurring charges associated with opening and closing the facility.
Captains Practice

MSHSL Rules do not allow Coaches or AD to set-up or organize captains practice

Students may participate in practices organized by the team’s captains so long as participation is voluntary and no salaried or non-salaried school personnel are involved in any capacity. Schools may not issue their uniforms or personal equipment outside of the high school season unless a rental fee is charged and that money is turned into the Activities Department.

MSHSL catastrophic insurance does not cover summer coaching, camps, clinics/leagues these programs are not school sponsored programs.

Coaches cannot supervise captain’s practice. The rules do not prevent a coach from watching a captain’s practice but when they do the parents get the impression the coach is selecting his or her team before the season begins, therefore – as a district we do not support coaches “watching” captain’s practices.

Supervisor of the captains practice assumes risks and liability associated with the captains practice including conduct, language, and safety during the captains practice.

Supervisor may be required to complete a background check through Community Education prior to supervising on ISD 709 property.
Practices that involved students that are: registered in another club or pay a registration fee to participate other than with ISD 709 programs, participate in a league, have students that are not registered or enrolled in ISD 709, will not be considered “captains practice”

Open Gym: MSHSL bylaw provision 208.2.G
It is a best practice to have open gym supervised by non-coaches. However, if a coach is going to supervise open gym the coach must follow the provisions of bylaw 208.2.G. Additionally, the open gym must be open to all students at your school. For example, you could not have an basketball open gym for members of the boys’ basketball only. Q. What constitutes an open gym?
Open gym refers to the use of the school facilities for recreational activities. The characteristics of an open gym are that:
1. The school facilities are available for students to participate in a number of activities;
2. The recreational activities are open to all students;
3. There is no coaching of the skills and techniques of activities provided in the school interscholastic athletic program;
4. There is no requirement for students to attend open gym activities as a prerequisite for membership on a high school team.
5. high school coaches may not participate in games, pickup games, provide instruction in the skills of a sport or otherwise influence a high school athlete’s participation in open gym. Open gym conducted as stated above is not a violation of League bylaws. (Note: Coaches who have been approved for summer waivers may supervise open gym and provide instruction to athletes.)
